Description

This tour will take you to one of the most beautiful and most visited regions in Iceland. During the two days you will drive along the famous South Coast to admire the beauty of Icelandic nature.

On your first day we will take you to the most known waterfalls in the South, Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss. These picture-perfect waterfalls are on the bucket list of almost all travellers visiting Iceland. To add even more to this experience on our tour you will also have an opportunity to see two less known but equally beautiful waterfalls – Irafoss and Gljufrabui. Exploring South Coast of Iceland would not be complete without a visit at the Black Beach of Reynisfjara. Just take your time on the beach to admire basalt columns and lava formations rising above the sea level and make sure to have your camera ready to take memorable pictures there!

At the end of the day we will take you to your accommodation. You can select the standard of accommodation during booking process, choosing between hotel, guesthouse or hostel/dormitory standard – you can find more information about the available selection under Good to Know section. Just relax on our premises searching the sky for the Northern Lights which are known to dance on the sky in the area (if weather conditions are favorable).

For second day we will drive further East to reach the famous Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon. On our way we stop at Eldhraun lava fields (formed by the largest known lava flow in the world) and at Skaftafell National Park. But the unique beauty awaits you just below the biggest glacier in Europe – Vatnajokull. There you will find the Diamond Beach – a black beach scattered with shattered ice bergs. Here is the Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon, where huge icebergs float in ice cold water and seals swim around them and nearby the natural Blue Ice Caves – formed by melting glacial waters trying to make their way to the ocean.

If you want to enjoy the Icelandic nature to the fullest and to witness one of Iceland’s most incredible natural phenomenon, then you should book this tour now as availability is very limited.

Please note: it is only possible to bring small carry-on luggage such as backpacks for the tour. See further details under Good To Know section

Itinerary

Day 1 – South Coast, four Waterfalls and Black Beach of Reynisfjara

After a complimentary pick up service within Reykjavik you will kick off East on an unforgettable adventure along the route #1, passing though small towns and the Icelandic countryside. After around 2 hours of driving you will notice a waterfall falling from the high cliffs – this is Seljalandsfoss. It has a 60 meters (200ft) high drop of water, is located underneath Eyjafjallajokull glacier-volcano and is among the most photographed waterfalls in Iceland. Once there remember to follow our guide on the path to secret waterfall – Gljubrabui. This smaller waterfall located in a cave is really worth seeing.

Next on the itinerary is Skogafoss – a classic waterfall that looks like taken straight from a childs drawing. The single cascade of water is a show of true, raw power of nature that must be seen to be believed. You will then have the additional pleasure of visiting another less known waterfall ofIrafoss.

Then it is on to Reynisfjara, a black sand beach nestling under Mt. Reynisfjall. Black basalt has been shaped into amazing different formations, most notably the famous Reynisdrangar. Beware the might of the Atlantic Ocean which looms with its powerful waves while admiring lava formations located close to the shore.

At the end of the day we will take you to your accommodation. Remember to keep your head up for the Northern Lights. Our guide will inform you about the possibilities to see them.
